About the Artist
I specialize in portraying animals in their natural habitat using acrylics
and oils on a variety of medium; canvas, composition board, and illustration
board in a realistic, painterly style. Special attention is given to light and
its effect on nature using a vibrant and colorful pallet. I live in
an area of the country, South Florida, that has brilliant light most of the year
which is reflected in my paintings.
Graduating from The Art Institute of Atlanta guided towards a career as an
illustrator, I worked with advertising agencies In 2000 I thought it was time for a change.
I had done some illustrations and paintings of wildlife for various ad agencies
in the previous years and I also had a snook painting chosen to be used
as a stamp for the State of Florida. These successes convinced me to try
my hand in the wildlife art field.
I attended the Beartooth School of Art in Montana, where I learned how to
create wildlife paintings from Paco Young and John Seerey-Lester. I have
attended workshops out in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming every year since. These workshops renew my soul. Being an artist is
a solitary occupation and it is very rewarding to interact with other artist
that have the same passion to portray nature in all its glory and to share that
nature with people who love wildlife.
